Many security breaches are committed within the corporate firewalls. Adding additional firewall to a database server will introduce additional latency. This is not commonly practiced. The introduction of DB^x™ gateway partitions the database access into two networks: client-side network and server-side network. These two networks can be physically separated to ensure the deployment of the strictest access control policy. Since DB^x™ acts as an advanced transaction pre-processor, adding access control (firewall) requires virtually no overhead.
